ANIMATION

Animation has always been a core part of our studio. The ability to tell stories about a product or a narrative through 3D animation has presented some of our most challenging and rewarding briefs. Guy Robinson is our lead animator and has been a part of the crew since we opened our doors. He is one of the country’s best; specialising in 3D modelling and animation, product visualisation and motion graphics. Our portfolio includes production, medical, architectural and instructional based animations to allow the most complex and intricate innovations to be understood. Give him a brief and a challenge and the work speaks for itself.

We now offer live streaming for online events. We film and live stream to a social media platform of your choice and can also edit a package for you. If that’s something you need we have an affordable and straightforward package available so get in touch.

Our engagement content is crafted and produced to distribute valuable, relevant information that appeals to and influences a clearly defined audience. We push boundaries to deliver robust messaging in workplace safety, health and environmental issues for large business and government. This is often the most rewarding work we do as we know it makes a difference on many levels. Often our engagement films are supported by an integrated campaign to give maximum reach and impact. Delivering impactful safety messages has been some of the most challenging and rewarding briefs. We’re proud to say we’ve won multiple awards in this space and will always value and respect this kind of work. Often we design campaigns to support the films so the messages stay front of mind and have a lasting impact as well as a shelf life for our clients. Given the sensitive nature of some of this content we aren’t always able to show our finished work but we’re proud to say we’ve partnered with Tomago Aluminum, Glencore, Downer, OneSteel, MolyCop and BP to name a few.

HEALTH

Working with health professionals to bring challenging topics and narratives to life allows us to produce work with purpose and often far reaching impact. Some of the most complex health issues underpin our most challenging briefs and this innately means we often get to work with the best in their fields, nationally and internationally. A great privilege and something we cherish. Some of our work can be seen in our portfolio while others are confidential due to the nature of their content.

ENVIRONMENT

At a time when we’re all waking up to the fragile nature of our beautiful environment, working on briefs that enable us to shift the needle in a better direction for mother earth are some of our most prized projects. We view this work as giving a voice to the environment that may not otherwise be heard. We have collaborated with local, national and international clients. Our most recent work was one of our most significant to date. Collaborating with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme and 15 Pacific Island nations to explore ways that communication can support waste issues faced in the region.

Rollingball is focused on finding and telling stories. We support co-operative alliances with content producers across various media formats and engage in development opportunities within the industry. Rollingball continues to develop high-quality programs and documentaries for domestic and international markets.

Long Form Projects

Van Life - Stories from the road

VanLife – Stories From The Road follows people who have chosen to live their life in a van. It’s about why, how and what they are doing whilst living the VanLife. It’s a glimpse at the groundswell movement that is capturing Millennials across the globe. The choice to live small! This five-part character-driven series begins in Australia and transverses the world.

These stories explore personal journeys, goals and aspirations. There is love, sadness, failure, success and adventure. It is intimate, intrusive, touching, and at times simply beautiful. These stories unfold on roads travelled and roads unknown. From sandy shores, to wild deserts, mountain scapes and cities rich in culture.

Over the course of the series we meet photographers, social influencers, musicians, various artisans and adventurers and we do all this against the cinematic backdrop of different countries.

They are not saying VanLife is the answer, however, VanLife has become the mega-symbol of experiential, simple living, and for this reason it’s contagiously digestible. Previous generations gave them an out-of-control world, and VanLife is their rebuttal.

These are their stories from the road and this is your glimpse into its vastness.

Catching Dragonflies

Catching Dragonflies investigates the chronic disease ripping the heart from the oldest culture on earth and in the process, exposes gross inadequacies in detection and protection of those suffering. Born with all senses Aboriginal children are losing their ability to hear before the age of five.
In this powerful social impact film, we follow the trajectory of ear disease in Aboriginal Australians; disconnection from culture, learning problems, truancy, incarceration and mental health issues. This film exposes the devastating impact this preventable disease has on the individuals, their families and Australia as a whole.
3% of the Australians population is Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
30% of all incarcerated people in Australia are Indigenous.
85% of those Incarcerated are hearing impaired or deaf!!
Catching Dragonflies is being produced to expose and share the truth.

BRUMBY - Your Mind or Your Heart

Your Mind or Your Heart follows the epic battle were the cultural fabric and folklore of the Snowy Mountain High Country Brumby is vested against irreversible ecological damage of the precious High-Country habitat and ecosystems in which they roam. In this emotional journey, we are challenged to think with our mind or our heart. In this high stake, political battle thousands of Snowy Mountain Brumbies face slaughter at the hands and rifles of the men and woman they would have once carried in defence and progress of this country. Brumby Your Mind or Your Heart holds no punches!

This trailer was a proof of concept shot in collaboration with Skystone Productions. Production has significantly developed since this was produced.

EAT FRESH DRINK LOCAL

Eat Fresh Drink Local was an original web series created before the paddock to plate movement took hold. It was a refreshing look at produce, its origin, and its significance to the specific regions or terroir. It gracefully matches local food with wine within different regions of Australia. We explore personal stories, traditions, challenges and triumphs to bring food and refreshments to our tables. Rollingball is currently refreshing this brand and is looking to bring it back a decade after it was first produced.

What does it take to be the best? Our focus was to explore and demonstrate this through cinematic vision, textures, styling and script. To showcase Brokenwood’s prestigious history and their commitment to excellence, the dynamic, distinct flavours and tradition in their wine making. Capturing the story behind their wines and the grounds from which they are harvested. We’re proud to say that this piece of work is one of our all-time favourites.

Catching Dragonflies

Catching Dragonflies is a documentary that exposes the little known truth within our indigenous community. Ear disease is at a rate considered a fourth world statistic. Children are being born with all of their senses and before the age of five, they are becoming hearing impaired or deaf. A chronic disease which is avoidable in our first world nation for our first peoples. Catching Dragonflies is being produced to expose and share the truth.

We all know our grandparents and loved ones in their later years have lived incredible lives. They are such a significant and valued part of our families and the community, so to receive a brief that asked us craft stories about a service that supports people in their 70’s and 80’s to live full and independent lives at home, was both exciting and challenging.

The campaign has been well received with 5.6K views of the commercial on the Newcastle City Council Facebook page in the first few days of the camping going live, and overwhelmingly positive comments about the production.

FISH FOR LIFE! CAMPAIGN

(FILMING AND PHOTOGRAPHY)

Rollingball partnered with The Brand Pool to create a truly immersive concept for NSW Fisheries, to drive participation and shift perceptions amongst non-fishers and occasional anglers; and build social licence and brand awareness for avid NSW fishers.

Rollingball created a film and photography suite to compliment and enhance the mood of the campaign look and feel – drawing the viewer in and inviting them to be a part of the majesty of the outdoors and the benefits of angling.

We produced a cinematic, fast-flowing yet poignant TVC. The creative inspiration links the awareness and recall of the enjoyment of aspects of outdoor activities, in particular water activities, to fishing. It was directed in a way that demonstrates a strong sense of personal ownership and buy-in from the viewer. The viewer might not fish, but they might as well!

Along-side film production, Rollingball created a photography suite to complement the campaign and collateral use.
