Scope: Tomago Aluminium approached us to produce a new corporate branding film at a time the industry was facing a number of external challenges.
Part of our brief was to ensure a fresh, dynamic and informative video was produced to assist the marketing strategy for the business. As Tomago Aluminium is a major employer for the region, the smelter’s connectivity to Newcastle and the cities lifestyle was also a priority. The final video was also required to be voiced in Japanese and Mandarin, because of their relationships and key markets.
Approach: From a filming perspective the site, its pipelines and end product are not the most straight forward topic to portray, so we used a cross section of mediums and styles to capture the Tomago Aluminium story.
We also had the challenge of limited access to parts of the smelter because of our equipment and safety constraints, so we built the inside of the pot-lines and its textures in 3D animation from CAD drawings.
We used aerial vision to show the proximity of the smelter to Newcastle.
Outcome: Tomago Aluminium’s corporate communication team approved the first draft of the video without changes. We believe this was because of our approach to project managing each step of the production process.
