The awards were announced 30 March 2017, and Rollingball took out the Occupational Health and Safety category for a collaboration with Ravensworth Operations, and their Catching Dragonflies trailer won the Short Film (under 30mins) category. The Ravensworth Operations film highlights the importance of safety while working at the site using personal stories from present and past workers. Catching Dragonflies is a documentary, which is still in production. The trailer is a sneak peak at the documentary, which brings to light the status of Indigenous Australian ear health, which is amongst the poorest in the world.
“We’re really proud of the work we’ve been producing over the past three years, and now we’ve been rewarded with two national awards. It’s great to be able to produce original and creative works in a truely regional centre and support the Hunter’s creative industries.” Producer April Howard said.
The Australian Video Producers Association is a non-profit organisation encouraging and promoting excellence in all areas of video.
Rollingball also won the NEWi Award for Best Online Video of the Year two years in a row, in 2015 and 2016.
