Our last project for 2014 was a challenging and inspiring brief from the Environment Division of Hunter Councils. When we were asked to create a commercial to encourage people to waste less at Christmas, we pitched three ideas and Keepin’ Up was the one that connected most with our client. Christmas is a time that is traditionally full of retail commercials and ingrained spending behaviour, so we used comedy as a way to connect with the audience.
You may have spotted the commercial online or on NBN in the three weeks leading up to Christmas, but if not, you can view the extended version here. The media schedule was also accompanied by a successful PR campaign and the issue of waste at Christmas was covered on radio and press across the Hunter.
From a creative perspective this project allowed our Creative Directors, Director and Art Department to pool our skills, cast great talent, style our set and communicate an important message. The production was completed on a very tight deadline and here’s the feedback we received.
“I want to sincerely thank your team…You really helped us to develop our message to ensure we were reaching our target audience by providing that level of awareness during the Christmas craziness, absolutely nailed the brief. Feedback from our internal team here in Hunter Councils is utter disbelief that you have pulled off such a high production TVC in such a short time frame with a really quirky atmosphere, providing a stark message with a smile.” Juliana Cain, Hunter & Central Coast Regional Environmental Management Strategy.
The television commercial is part of a three-year strategy #smallactsbigchange to raise awareness of waste avoidance and remind us that everyone can make a difference. We’re really looking forward to the next project in this campaign.
